Airport insurance

This insurance can be taken out by owners and operators of an airport and provides insurance cover in the event of personal injury or property damage on the airport premises.

The insurance covers the policyholder at the place of insurance including all existing and newly added legally dependent business premises and/or branches in Germany and abroad, but excluding the USA/Canada and their territories.

Insured are the company employees, insofar as they are active in the business of the policyholder in the capacity of agents.

The agent is an employee of the policyholder or an affiliated company who is entitled and obliged by virtue of statutory or company regulations to monitor compliance with legal regulations in the company. Voluntarily appointed agents are also insured. The authorised representatives include, among others:

  • Occupational safety specialists (in accordance with the Occupational Safety Act)
  • Company doctor in accordance with § 2-4 ASiG
  • Safety officers
  • Safety managers according to 45c LuftVZO
  • Fire safety officers
  • Information Security Officers
  • Data protection officers according to DSGVO
  • Operations managers according to EASA
  • Immission Protection Officers, Radiation Protection Officers
  • Environmental protection officers
  • Dangerous Goods Officers
  • Radiation protection officer
  • Radiation protection officer
  • Water Protection and / or Waste Disposal Officer
  • Bird strike and wildlife management officers
  • Site safety coordinators
  • Representative for the fulfilment of recipient obligations for fuel deliveries
  • Emergency management officers
  • Salvage officers
  • First-aiders
 

Object of the insurance

The insurance covers – within the scope of the insurance conditions to be agreed – the legal liability of the policyholder arising from all operational properties and activities in connection with the insured and named airport:

  • Business liability
  • Aviation product liability
  • Environmental liability insurance (basic cover)
  • Specific risks of the policyholder
  • Co-insured
 

The desired sum insured as well as the excess of the policyholder and / or the co-insured persons per loss event and for all loss events of an insurance year together must be agreed in a risk-adequate manner.

Within the scope of the sum insured, the following coverages can be included with separate limits:

  • Financial losses
  • Activity damage
  • Handling / storage of radioactive materials
  • Damage to rented property
  • Loss of keys
  • Loss of property
  • Private liability risks during business trips
  • Environmental liability insurance
  • Motor vehicles not subject to registration and insurance requirements

Loss of Licence Insurance

Fitness to fly can be at risk for a variety of reasons – illness, physical injury or an accident.

The insurer provides benefits if flying personnel or other personnel working in the aviation industry (e.g. air traffic controllers, radar, meteo, etc.) lose their licence to perform their duties due to the loss of their medical fitness.
